On Friday 21 March 2025, thousands of students from across Melbourne gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral for the annual Mass of St Patrick for Schools. Among them were teachers and students appointed as Jubilee Ambassadors for their school communities during this Year of Jubilee 2025.
Following Communion, Archbishop Peter A Comensoli led a special commissioning, inviting the Ambassadors to pray for God’s blessing as they begin their ministry. Together, the Ambassadors pledged to:
- Promote the spirit of Jubilee through works of mercy and reconciliation
- Lead by example in living out the values of faith, hope, and charity
- Support their fellow students and teachers on their spiritual journey throughout this holy year.
Who are the Jubilee Ambassadors?
Jubilee Ambassadors are senior student and staff leaders chosen to represent their school and bring the Jubilee message to life.
- Student Ambassadors serve as the ‘face’ of the Jubilee Year in their schools — promoting events, leading student engagement, and fostering a spirit of faith, fellowship, and belonging.
- Staff Ambassadors work alongside students as role models and supporters, encouraging whole-school participation and sharing their experiences to build community and inspire others.
What’s next?
Formation opportunities will be offered to support Ambassadors in planning and leading Jubilee initiatives in their schools. Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to represent their communities at the 2025 Australian Catholic Youth Festival (30 November – 2 December), joining with others from across the country to celebrate faith and youth leadership in this special Jubilee Year.
