The Jubilee Year in the Catholic Church offers a unique and profound opportunity for evangelisation in Catholic schools. Catholic Education Week dates: Sunday 16 March to Sunday 23 March 2025
This year, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic schools will celebrate Catholic Education Week from 16 to 20 March. The theme for Catholic Education Week 2025 is ‘Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you’ (Isaiah 60:1) which draws from the motto if the Holy Year, the Year of Jubilee, and the Australian Catholic Youth Festival’s theme – ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
There are 293 Catholic primary and secondary schools across MACS, enrolling 116,000 students and employing more than 16,000 staff. Catholic schools provide a high-quality education in a faith-centred environment. This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day.

Australian Catholic Youth Festival dates: Sunday 30 November to Tuesday 2 December
Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) is a national gathering of Catholic young people. It provides young people from all across Australia with the opportunity to come together to connect, deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to live their faith in the world and experience the breadth of the church in Australia. In 2025, theme for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, reflecting the importance of the Jubilee Year. We are fortunate that Melbourne will be hosting the festival this year, so <our school> will be able to take a number of students from Years 9-12 to participate in this exciting event.
